Quicksilver

Quicksilver
Riders:
Aenys I Targaryen,  Aegon Targaryen,

Description

Quicksilver was the she-dragon of King Aenys I Targaryen and his son, Prince Aegon Targaryen. In 43 AC, Quicksilver was a quarter the size of Balerion. Her fireballs were pale white in color. Although the coloring of her body is not stated in the books, her name as well as the coloring of her fire implies that Quicksilver's scales were silver.

In the year 23 AC, Aenys traveled to Sunspear in Dorne to participate in the feast commemorating a decade of peace between Dorne and the Iron Throne, riding Quicksilver. After his father Aegon I Targaryen's passing in 37 AC, Aenys was at Highgarden with Quicksilver and flew on the dragon to Dragonstone for the funeral. Later that same year, when rebellions erupted and Harren the Red killed Lord Gargon Qoherys of Harrenhal, Aenys and Quicksilver were at Riverrun. Lord Tully encouraged Aenys to take Quicksilver to Harrenhal to stop the rebellion, but Aenys declined.

King Aenys I Targaryen passed away in the early days of 42 AC. Quicksilver, along with the dragons Silverwing and Vermithor, added their flames to her funeral pyre on Dragonstone. Soon after, Aenys's half-brother Maegor I Targaryen claimed the Iron Throne, usurping it from his nephew Prince Aegon Targaryen. During the time of Maegor's reign, Prince Aegon and his wife Princess Rhaena Targaryen were besieged at Crakehall and then protected at Casterly Rock, while both Quicksilver and Rhaena's dragon Dreamfyre were in King's Landing. When Maegor was absent from the capital for six months in 43 AC, Aegon and Rhaena took advantage of the situation and infiltrated King's Landing with the help of some collaborators within the city. They were there to reunite with their dragons, Rhaena with Dreamfyre and Aegon with his father's Quicksilver. Although they didn't attempt to claim the throne, they managed to leave the city on dragonback after arriving in a mule-drawn wagon.

In the year 43 AC, Prince Aegon made an attempt to reclaim the throne that he believed rightfully belonged to him. He gathered his allies at Pinkmaiden Castle, which belonged to House Piper, and called for honest men to join him in his cause. A total of 15,000 men rallied to his banners, and they marched towards King's Landing under the leadership of Aegon the Uncrowned, riding on his horse, Quicksilver. As they made their way towards the capital, royalist armies moved in from three different directions to stop them. Although Aegon's army was larger than any of the three, the young commander was inexperienced and did not want to engage in separate battles. He decided to continue marching towards King's Landing.

However, they encountered a force of crownlands men who blocked their path just south of the Gods Eye. Aegon ordered a charge against them, hoping to shatter their defenses before the other armies could flank them. He mounted Quicksilver with the intention of leading the attack. But as he took off, King Maegor appeared on his dragon, Balerion, which was four times larger than Quicksilver. The two dragons engaged in a fierce battle in the sky, while the armies fought on the ground below. Unfortunately, Quicksilver was no match for Balerion, and Aegon met his demise when Balerion ripped one of Quicksilver's wings from her body, causing her to fall to her death.
