Description

Vermax was a dragon ridden by Prince Jacaerys Velaryon. Vermax was thriving and growing larger every year. Vermax became ill-tempered when in proximity of snow, ice and cold. Vermax's coloring is not described in the books. In the television adaptation House of the Dragon, Vermax has olive green scales and pale orange wing membranes.

When the Dance of the Dragons began, Vermax had grown large enough to be ridden. Prince Jacaerys rode Vermax to treat with Lady Jeyne Arryn, Lord Desmond Manderly, and Lord Cregan Stark on behalf of his mother, Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen. All three pledged their support to the blacks, resulting in a successful mission.

Vermax was also used by Prince Jacaerys during the Battle in the Gullet, where he attacked an enemy fleet. However, Vermax flew too low and crashed into the sea, leading to conflicting stories about the cause of his fall. Unfortunately, both Jacaerys and Vermax perished during the battle. There are rumors that Vermax laid eggs in the Winterfell crypts, but this claim is widely regarded as false.
