Vermithor

The Bronze Fury
Description
Vermithor, called the Bronze Fury, was a male dragon once ridden by King Jaehaerys I Targaryen. Vermithor was a bronze dragon with great tan wings. Vermithor was already a large dragon in 48 AC; only Balerion and Vhagar were larger. By the time of the Dance of the Dragons, Vermithor was almost a hundred years old.
Vermithor was a fearsome beast. Accustomed to men and having had a previous rider, by the reign of Aegon II Targaryen Vermithor was tolerant of the presence of people and more accepting of new riders. Vermithor often coiled with Silverwing.
Legend has it that Vermithor was born from a dragon's egg placed in Prince Jaehaerys Targaryen's cradle by his sister, Rhaena. Vermithor, alongside the dragons Quicksilver and Silverwing, contributed flames to King Aenys I Targaryen's funeral pyre at Dragonstone in 42 AC. By 48 AC, Vermithor accepted Jaehaerys as his rider when Jaehaerys made his claim for the Iron Throne. Nine days after King Maegor I Targaryen's mysterious death, Jaehaerys flew on Vermithor to claim the throne in King's Landing. During Jaehaerys and his sister-wife Queen Alysanne Targaryen's reign, they once visited Winterfell with six dragons. When Alysanne flew north to the Wall on her dragon Silverwing, Jaehaerys followed on Vermithor after growing bored. Following Jaehaerys's death in 103 AC, Vermithor was left without a rider throughout the reign of his successor, King Viserys I Targaryen. During this time, Vermithor resided on the island of Dragonstone and made his lair in one of the smoking caverns of the Dragonmont.
In the early stages of the Dance of the Dragons, Prince Jacaerys Velaryon recognized the need for more dragonriders on his mother's side. Many men attempted to claim a dragon for themselves, but Vermithor burned Lord Gormon Massey to death. Eventually, a blacksmith's illegitimate son named Hugh Hammer managed to win Vermithor's allegiance. Together, they participated in the Battle in the Gullet, along with Silverwing, Sheepstealer, Vermax, and Seasmoke. The dragons descended upon a fleet of ninety warships flying the banners of the Three Daughters.
After Rhaenyra Targaryen's supporters took King's Landing, Hugh landed Vermithor outside the Dragonpit on the Hill of Rhaenys. Vermithor made his lair inside the Dragonpit before he and Hugh rode into battle at the first Battle of Tumbleton. During the battle, Hugh and Ulf the White, another dragonseed who claimed Silverwing, switched their allegiance and betrayed Rhaenyra, siding with Aegon II Targaryen. Vermithor, Silverwing, and Tessarion, the dragon of Prince Daeron, unleashed their flames upon Tumbleton, which was brutally sacked.
